Dear Parents and Carers,

Here at Southover we warmly welcome parents and carers to volunteer in the school (including assisting on trips). We do however require all regular volunteers (including those who are volunteering for swimming) to complete our information pack which includes an application form to allow us to complete necessary checks e.g. Disclosure and Barring System (DBS) and references.  The completed DBS will be posted directly to you.  When this arrives please bring the original document into school for us to note the details and confirm all checks have been made.

Once this is completed and agreed, volunteers will be able to work in the school.  A regular commitment (e.g.a full day, mornings/afternoons etc) is ideal.  For checks to remain valid all volunteers need to come in to school a minimum of once a term.

When coming into the school please sign in at the office.  On your first visit you will be provided with information to ensure your volunteering runs smoothly.

Green lanyards are issued to all those volunteers who have completed the checks and red lanyards to other visitors.  Please ensure you are wearing your lanyard at all times as those with red lanyards or no lanyards will be challenged if seen unaccompanied around school.  All lanyards have safeguarding contact details on the reverse should you have any concerns whilst on the premises.   LANYARDS MUST BE RETURNED TO THE OFFICE WHEN YOU SIGN OUT BEFORE LEAVING THE PREMISES.
