PE and Sport Premium
Please read the information below which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
Sport is a very high priority at Southover. We are involved in nearly every event possible and value participation highly. Our gym, as well as hall, allow PE lessons to be delivered every week come rain or snow. We use our Sports Premium to increase participation and to create a life-long interest in being active.

PE and Sports Premium 2024/25
Our PE and Sports Premium Fund was £18,680 for the academic year, 2024-25.
We spent all of this money on increasing children’s opportunities to keep moving and to build good habits for now and the future.
This has been registered on the government website but is best explained below:
£1503 was spent on resources – balls, equipment, swimming pool resources, active outdoor learning resources for younger children and playground equipment to keep them moving and playing.
£695 was spent on supporting the delivery of high-quality lessons through RealPE – videos for training teachers, videos for children to watch and model, planning resources
£420 was spent on training for the lifeguards and resources
£4503 was spent on a specialist swimming teacher to deliver lessons to the whole school across June and July. Our own pool is a treasure and a swimming teacher helps the children learn an essential life skill.
£2,340 was spent on 1:1 and small group coaching sessions for children who find it hard to access normal sessions or to support them in feeling that sport and PE is for all. These have been provided by our coach and are great fun! These help children who might be: anxious, autistic, body-conscious…
£1845 was spent enabling children to take part in inter-school competitions. These were for boys and girls and allowed us to pay travel costs and release staff to attend. We love to see children representing the school and wearing the school kits! These include cricket, netball, football, cross-country, athletics.
£1,150 was spent on a local Lewes Sports Coordinator to organise and book venues for Lewes inter-school football, netball, cross-country, athletics
£4,960 was spent on keeping children active at play times. We had new markings put on the playgrounds to encourage games, movement and fun. These should last for several years.
£1000 was spent to enable all children to attend the residential trip. This helped lower the cost so that they could abseil, zip wire, fence, jump and climb!
£234 was spent supporting disadvantaged children to access extra-curricular sports clubs as they are usually the harder to reach group. Our uptake of free and reduced clubs by disadvantaged children is now good.
