24/03/20 Announcement: We have sent out parental invites today to email addresses that we have on file for online library Get Epic. This is free from the Get Epic team until the end of the school year.  We can set books for the children to read, monitor their reading and there are quizzes to complete. The children can listen to audio books and there is a read to me feature included with many of the titles. To turn the page simply click on that page (easier than using the scrolling cursor at the bottom). If you click on an individual word, there is an inbuilt dictionary that you can use. We hope that you enjoy this digital library at this time and encourage the children to continue reading 'real' books as well. If you do not receive your invites, please contact the office so that they can be resent.

Monday 23rd March:Home Learning

Happy Monday wonderful Woodpeckers and stunning Swallows. Your teachers Miss Powell and Miss Upton hope that you and your families are staying safe and healthy at this time. We have uploaded a learning journey for you to get started on this week, whilst home learning, and can't wait to see what amazing projects, creations and responses you come up with.

Down below, we have included links for you to use at home for educational websites. Please be aware that Topmarks is and not .com. We also would remind children to make good choices when using the internet and remember all of the internet safety that we have discussed in class.

We are working hard to try and find better ways to communicate we you and parents during this time and are exploring a variety of websites and apps that will allow us to do this. The office is still open at this time and responding to queries.

We look forwards to staying in contact with you and continuing learning with you.

Much love,

Year 3

Welcome to Year 3

Swallow and Woodpecker classes.

Our teachers are Miss Upton (Swallow Class) and Miss Powell (Woodpecker)

As part of our topic, Romans, Year 3 had an amazing Roman day where we had special visitors from the British Museum and the local Culver Project dig. We had a Roman object handling session, learnt about and made Roman coins, made bulla, standards, mosaics and laurel leaf crowns and had a Roman market with food tasting. Well done to the children and adults for all being fabulous on this day.

We are sewing bullas. Here we are working together to make mosaics.

In the Roman market, we tasted food and discussed which foods the Romans brought to England.

We saw and designed Roman coins.

There was an object handling session from the local Culver Project dig.

Our Winter Musical will be held on Tuesday 10th December at 2.00 pm and again on Wednesday 11th December at 9.30 in the  school hall. We would like all children to wear either a green, red or white plain t-shirt. Ideally we would like the children to also wear black/grey trousers or leggings but usual school uniform trousers and skirts will be fine if you are unable to provide them. If your child has a particular role with a specific item needed, we will send further details to you.

We can't wait to see you all and for you to share in our singing extravaganza!
